Do you love your door?
Think about how useful it is to you every day – you enter in and out of your door, keep your door shut and locked when you are out, protecting all your stuff, and while you are inside it stays closed and keeps the cold out and the people inside safe.
So what if your door didn’t work?
That’s the issue happening over at Chats Palace here in London’s Hackney – and it is a big problem for this historic arts centre. Originally opened in 1913 as the Homerton Library, this Grade-II listed building became the Chats Palace Arts Centre in 1976 and has since then been a haven for music, art and other community happenings here, in my neighbourhood.
The crew over at Chats Palace tell me that the door gets stuck and people think that the centre is closed, and, as you can only imagine, all kinds of small problems such as deliveries, issues for entering the building for those with mobility challenges, heating, security and the comings and goings during busy events are impacted by the old, faulty door. Chats Palace needs to raise £31,470 to replace the large entry door – and they have a crowdfunding campaign going on now.
Please pop on over to the Spacehive link and give a donation
– Chats Palace needs help now! Your donation will help them raise the significant funds needed to replace the door, and keep the centre’s activities easily open.
I donated toward the new door – can you?
